Every time a soul chooses to give up a human incarnation it sheds the garment of its physical vesture – the body – but carries with it the imprint of its thoughts and emotions along with its karmic balance of good and bad deeds and actions. These are retained in the soul mind and each time a subsequent incarnation is agreed upon, the soul descends into a chosen human fetus, bringing with it this storehouse of thoughts, emotions and karma that it created in its previous lives.

What are beliefs?
All of us perceive the world in a unique way. Our perceptions are deeply coloured by our beliefs which help us interpret our capabilities, our relationships and our life. Beliefs are personal and subjective truths about how we and the things around us are. They cannot be proved because they have no factual evidence underlying them, and yet they have immense power over us because they define the boundaries of what we can and cannot do, or what we will manifest or experience in our lives. The following statements are some commonly held beliefs;
- I don’t have enough money
- I am not good enough
- The world is a cruel place to live in
- No one cares about me
- I am not successful
- I am not creative
- I wish I could die
- My life is so miserable
Beliefs become the impelling forces or drivers in your life. They are the interpretive software that assigns meaning to life and causes you to create positive or negative experiences. Examine your beliefs about money, love, success, performance, life, your creative capabilities and your body image. Are these positive and productive or limiting and destructive?
Where do beliefs lie?
Beliefs are imprinted in the subconscious mind. While you may be aware of some, a large amount lie buried deep in the soil of your unconscious mind.
How are beliefs formed?
- Through pre-natal and in-womb perceptions
- Through childhood experiences with primary caretakers and the environment
- Through traumatic experiences in past lives
- Through communal influences
- Through the transfer of trans-generational & genetic data from ancestors
- Through the collective unconscious
Can beliefs be identified?
Yes, by using various energy psychology approaches such as Holographic Reading, Theta healing, EMDR (Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) and PSYCH-K, your specific beliefs can be identified.
Can these limiting beliefs be changed?
The negative or limiting beliefs can be overwritten with therapy so that the old limiting beliefs become defunct and the newly overwritten beliefs can be accessed. When these are followed up with appropriate actions and behavioural responses, new neural pathways are built in the brain and a new, more empowering habit is cultivated. Repeated behaviour makes these empowering new ways of behaving natural and spontaneous.
Why do we have so many limiting beliefs?
As the renowned cellular biologist says, “human beings have a great capacity for sticking to false beliefs with great passion and tenacity.” (Bruce H. Lipton, The Biology of Belief: Unleasing the Power of Consciousness, Matter and Miracles ) This is because,
- Most beliefs are formed in the first 3 or 4 years of life when the cognitive mind is not yet fully developed and the interpretation of experiences is performed largely through the emotional subtle body
- Beliefs tend to become personal truths which we are not willing to let go off easily
- We do not question personal truths deeply enough, nor subject them to the rigors of scientific inspection
- Imagination and unprocessed memories predispose humans to a large array of limiting beliefs
Why is belief change work so important?
Changing your beliefs can bring you freedom from limitations so you can experience more success, improve your performance, attract more money, enjoy better relationships, experience less loneliness and social awkwardness in life. It can also assist in your evolution.
Humans are emotional –mental beings. What this means is that they have the ability to both feel and think. While lower life forms can feel, they lack the cognitive skills to reason, think and find meaning in their experiences. This ability to reason is what makes the human race capable of exercising their freewill and making choices that can help actualise potentials and unravel the truth about existence. However, this freewill is obstructed by the very instrument of thinking that can set you free, namely your mind. The interpretations or the meanings you assign to experiences usually entangle you in limiting ways keeping you stuck in fear and distorting the truth.
In order to realise your highest potential in life it becomes important for you to identify these limiting beliefs and erase their negative or fearful connotations.
If the deeply embedded belief in your mind is, I will never amount to anything; it isn’t surprising that despite your best efforts, you may continue to be unsuccessful at work. You may even go as far as sabotaging your own success. Now your natural response may be, why would I sabotage myself? The suggestion might even seem absurd to you until your trace your memories back to an early childhood experience and recall an incident where your father (as an example) was scolding you angrily for getting poor grades and saying that you will never amount to anything. In your state of fear, your subconscious mind opened up and you absorbed your father’s angry judgement about your performance making it the all pervading truth about your capability. It became the performance and success mantra of your life from that day onwards. The experience passed, you grew up and even forget about that inconsequential little episode, but your subconscious remembered what was written its records. By using belief change work you can actually change that limiting belief to a more rewarding one and stop the self sabotage.

Each one has within them a forgotten part called the inner child. This part orchestrates your entire life and yet remains unknown to you. All your thoughts, your behaviours, your responses to various situations, your deep inner feelings and your entire way of being are driven by this child. Between the ages of 4 to 7 most of your standard operating behaviours have been programmed by this child in you based on the interpretations and feelings about the various experiences encountered and the limited understanding of the world around. And while you may have chronologically advanced in age, the operating system that you are still working with corresponds with the 4 year old in you.
