Inner Child Healing
Each one has within them a forgotten part called the inner child. This part orchestrates your entire life and yet remains unknown to you. All your thoughts, your behaviours, your responses to various situations, your deep inner feelings and your entire way of being are driven by this child. Between the ages of 4 to 7 most of your standard operating behaviours have been programmed by this child in you based on the interpretations and feelings about the various experiences encountered and the limited understanding of the world around. And while you may have chronologically advanced in age, the operating system that you are still working with corresponds with the 4 year old in you.
Body Shaming Hurts Men Too
It’s a myth that only women suffer from body shaming & not men. The assumption driving this belief is that men care only about career shaming, about where one works, how much one earns & the symbols of success one flaunts. In an Instagram and snapchat driven world, where edited selfies & perfect faces drive desire, male beauty is more prominent than ever. The truth that unfolds in my clinical research is that men worry as much about their bodies as women. Some of the issues that cause them immense worry include; 1....

Last night in my dream state, it dawned on me that both the ‘experiencer consciousness’ as well as the ‘observer consciousness’ that dwell in me were the two oars that could help me row the boat of my soul across the river of life. While intellectually i was aware of this, i hadn’t quite experienced it as vividly as i did in that dream state. I was shown that when i encountered a difficult experience, my natural tendency was to become acutely attached to the terrible feelings i was undergoing. I became my pain,...

I watch the storm Ravage his mind And feel the whip lash Of that turbulent wind Envelop everything In its destructive radius Breathe now I whisper To his mind It won’t leave you Until you choose To move away To a better place Of stillness He glares, Embers burning bright As the wind rouses his flames His mind retaliates to say I don’t need stillness I want to burn In this anger I want to savour This pain With a prayer in my heart I walk away from his storm Knowing that no matter how much one may wish to help another Every man must...

#1. Sameness breeds Contentment As we sit by the Wangchu Riverside at Terma Linka, in Thimphu, under a silvery moon with colored flags flapping in the chilly breeze, many interesting insights sprout in my awareness about the happiness quotient of this place. I love the way the Bhutanese people all dress the same way. When no one needs to stand out and be seen as different, life becomes a lot easier and much less complicated. The sameness in their dress code symbolically reminds me of how we are all similar in our struggles, our needs, our...

Often when we think of redemption of karma, we expect a harsh act in one life, to be settled in an equally violent way in a future lifetime. Yesterday’s session revealed that karma’s record keepers have many ingenious ways of restoring balance. Love can sometimes be used by a soul to avenge the cruelty of death. Surprised? Well, perhaps the story itself shall explain this better. A woman and her young son are chased by her ex lover on horseback. He is out to get her. On the mothers behest, the son is urged to run to safety and he...

Last night i had a dream. I was to travel from one destination to another in order to arrive at a wedding. I chose to cover this distance on horse back. Interestingly, the horse i was riding was rather slow. His head hung low in a servile fashion. Many a times i tried to push him, urging him to speed up and go faster, but whenever i tried to, i found myself sitting on his head and about to fall off. At those times, i consciously pulled back my desire to speed up, and managed to stay astride the slow but steady horse. Then i came upon the...

Q: Dear Suzy, I’m going through your book “Heal the storm within”. It touched me to the core. Maybe because i am going through an emotional storm. My son is too much into alcohol and smoking. He is married with children. Alcohol has now started affecting his health. Advice, counselling, shouting, screaming, have done all. Not ready to listen of rehab or Professional help. This because he does not feel he is wrong. Every evening he goes with friends for liquor. I feel someone away from the family can put something rational in his...
